Volunteer

The Cancer Assistance Program has a long and lasting legacy of volunteer involvement. Our volunteers are the front lines of the organization, providing direct service to our clients. We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers.

By contributing their time and energy to CAP, volunteers are able to spend their days in a rewarding manner. They work as part of an incredible team of people who are busy making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer. Whatever your interests are, we have a place for you.

A variety of volunteer opportunities exist:

Driver

Volunteers drive individuals to and from cancer-related medical appointments within the greater Hamilton area, during business hours.

Client Services Volunteer

Volunteers greet, engage and register clients for available services and help to issue requested cancer support equipment and personal care products. This role also may include administrative duties such as data entry or phone calls.

Equipment Technician Assistant

Volunteers work in the shop located within our office to repair and/or sanitize donated and returned home health equipment.

Event Planning Committee Member

Alongside our Manager of Annual Giving and Manager of Major Gifts and Partnerships, volunteers help to plan, execute and promote our signature fundraising events.

Event Volunteer, Day Of

Volunteers arrive on the day of an event, ready to help execute and provide support from start to finish.

Board of Directors or Committee Member

Volunteers provide governance and oversight of organizational activities as a board member. Committee volunteers offer subject-matter expertise as a member of a committee of the board.
